Technical Webinar – Asset Replacement projects (HV/LV)
With the electricity being supplied by the two power companies of HK, MTR has her own power distribution network to serve the HK railway services. The total power output is close to 250 MegaWatt which is sufficient to serve almost 200,000 people of Hong Kong every day. The existing high voltage power equipment and the low voltage systems up to the switchboard level have been put into services in stages since 1979, including the earliest sections of Kwun Tong Line, Tsuen Wan Line and Island Line. After decades of services, the earliest power supply systems are now undergoing an asset replacement project. With the provision of technologies, the power distribution system of MTR including its power system capacity, overall system reliability, maintainability and overall energy efficiencies will be enhanced. The Seminar will introduce the design and replacement strategy of the new generation power supply systems.
Speaker
Ir. Raymond Tam is the Chief Construction Manager (Power System) of the Capital Works Business Unit in MTR Corporation Limited. Raymond has over 25 years’ experience in railway extension and major asset replacement projects. He is now taking the project management role of the HV/LV replacement projects being undertaken in the Operating Railway.
Ir. Anson Chan is currently the Lead Design Manager of MTR Corporation Limited looking after the design of the new power system under the asset replacement project. He has been working in MTR over 30 years rendering engineering design and technical support services to different operation engineering departments aiming at the continuous improvements on the safety, reliability; efficiency and effectiveness of the electrical systems for the railways.
