Introduction

The MTR Corporation Limited is committed to serving the transport needs of the community of Hong Kong by the provision of world class railway facilities. The Tung Chung Line Extension at Lantau North is a railway scheme to improve railway accessibility to Tung Chung West and Tung Chung East areas with extending the Tung Chung Line overrun tunnels at existing Hong Kong Station to satisfy the required train services for the proposed developments at Lantau North and the airport expansion plans.

A new intermediate station at Tung Chung East located within the reclaimed land formed under the Tung Chung New Town Extension development between Sunny Bay Station and Tung Chung Station. The site visit focused on the trackwork and flash butt weld demonstration at Tung Chung East.
